The Nyarkotey College of Holistic Medicine has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Quality and Accreditation Institute (QAI), India, in a move aimed at strengthening international quality assurance, curriculum development, and professional education in naturopathy and complementary medicine.

The agreement, signed on October 1, 2026, establishes a non-exclusive framework for collaboration between the two institutions in disciplines including Naturopathy, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Yoga, Herbal Medicine, and Clinical Nutrition.

The MoU was signed on behalf of QAI by Dr. B. K. Rana.

A Strategic Step for African Naturopathic Education

Speaking on the development, Prof. Raphael Nyarkotey Obu, Esq., President of Nyarkotey College of Holistic Medicine, described the agreement as a significant step in the College's strategy to combine African naturopathic education with international quality assurance and global academic collaboration.

"Our vision is not merely to train practitioners, but to build an African institution whose professional programmes can be subjected to independent quality review and international benchmarking," Prof. Nyarkotey said.

"Our collaboration with the Quality and Accreditation Institute in India gives us another platform to strengthen curriculum, assessment, faculty development, and institutional quality."

He noted that Africa's growing interest in naturopathy, Ayurveda, homeopathy, and other traditional healthcare systems requires institutions to pay greater attention to quality assurance, competency-based education, and international benchmarking.

Strengthening Professional Programmes

Nyarkotey College has submitted a portfolio of professional programmes for quality review, covering Professional Certificates, Professional Diplomas, and Advanced Professional Diplomas.

The proposed cooperation will enable both institutions to examine programme design, teaching capacity, assessment systems, competency standards, and internal quality processes.

Any formal accreditation or certification arising from the relationship will be subject to QAI's applicable review, assessment, and approval processes.

The College regards the signed MoU as the beginning of a structured quality-assurance and institutional-development relationship.

Building an India–Africa Education Bridge

The agreement comes as Nyarkotey College expands its international collaborations with institutions in India and other countries, providing African students and practitioners with exposure to clinical training, research, and professional development.

Prof. Nyarkotey expressed appreciation to Dr. B. K. Rana and QAI leadership for their willingness to collaborate with an African institution working to strengthen standards in naturopathic and complementary medicine education.
