Ghana Association of Medical Herbalists (GAMH) Launches Landmark Secretariat & Health Shop

The Ghana Association of Medical Herbalists (GAMH) has taken a major step towards promoting safe, standardised, and scientifically validated herbal medicine in Ghana with the official opening of its new secretariat and health shop, which was part of a historic event honouring the development and acceptance of traditional medicine.

As the administrative and operational centre for GAMH, the recently opened secretariat in Osu, Accra demonstrates the organization’s dedication to promoting the use of medicinal herbs in Ghana. In an effort to close the gap between conventional medicine and contemporary healthcare, the organisation opened a health shop in addition to the secretariat, providing the general public with premium, certified herbal items.

Dr. (MH) Sandra Ashong, President of GAMH, highlighted the significance of this milestone in his keynote speech:

“Today is about reaffirming our purpose to advance evidence-based herbal therapy, not just about a facility. Upholding the greatest standards of practice, this health store will provide Ghanaians properly produced, safe, and effective herbal goods.

In order to allay worries about uncontrolled items on the market, the health store makes sure that herbal medicines adhere to quality control and regulatory requirements.

By assisting regional herbalists and producers, GAMH strengthens Ghana’s herbal sector, generating employment opportunities and conserving traditional knowledge.

Representatives from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC), and Ministry of Health attended the event and commended GAMH’s work promoting complementary and alternative medicine.

More than just a success, the opening of GAMH’s secretariat and health store represents a change in Ghana’s medical system. GAMH is laying the groundwork for a day when herbal medicine will be widely available, reliable, and essential to the country’s health by fusing tradition and science.
