Hibiscus tea ( Popularly known as “sobolo”) is a refrshing drink native to Ghana. It can be made from either roseel leaves or calyx of the flowers; a specie of Hibiscus. It is native to West Africa.
The leaves or flowers are steeped in hot water and once the water form, red, the water is strained, sweetened, and left to cool. This tea is noted for its high medicinal values; including antihypertensive action, antimalaria, and also a general immune booster due to its numerous antioxidants
According to the Prolific Academic writer, Law Student, A Naturopathic Doctor and the founder of the Nyarkotey College Of Holistic Medicine in the person of Dr. Obu Nyarkotey Raphael, It was his postdoctoral Research that brought Hibiscus tea into the system.
He disclosed this in an interview with rafamallgh during a 3-day health seminar at Cape coast. In the interview, He explained how he started his journey as a being trained as a Sonographer in the year 2008 and 2010. He further went to work in both the conventional and the alternative health facilities. At this point, He developed so much interest in Sonographic Urology and prostate health
His passion in prostate health then took him to enroll in an Msc Prostate Cancer wherein he was introduced to Complementary and Alternative Medicine as part of the quality of life and survivorship program and further undertook a Ph.D. in Complementary And Alternative Medicine. His Post Doctoral research At DaVinci College of Holistic Medicine then brought Hibiscus Tea into the limelight. It was at this point He discovered what He referred to as “Medical Politics”…
