New Medical Herbalists Inducted by TMPC

The Traditional Medicine Practice Council has officially accepted and inducted 36 newly qualified Medical Herbalists into the field.

This came after these Professionals undertook and passed their licensure examination organized by the Traditional Medicine Practice Council.

People who had finished the required and approved academic and practical training for Medical Herbalists were invited to the ceremony.

Dr. Mrs. Anastasia Yirenkyi, the Acting Registrar of the Traditional Medicine Practice Council, commended the inductees during the ceremony last Friday at the Ministry Of Health Auditorium.

She mentioned that The theme for the induction ceremony was Government Policy on Digitalization and the Promotion of Traditional Medicine in Ghana.

In her speech, she outlined some of the duties of the Traditional Medicine Practice; register the practice of Traditional medicine, Register practitioners, and license practices, regulate the preparations and sale of Herbal medicine, and provide formulated purposes.

She thanked the Leadership of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology, Centre for Plant Medicine Research, Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, and Traditional Medicine Practice Council for their selfless, commitment and dedication in training and nurturing these students and transforming them into Professionals that the Nation is proud of.

The Ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr, Kofi Busia who is currently Co-editor of the Elsevier-sponsored Journal of Herbal Medicine, and Principal Postgraduate Supervisor in the Faculty of Medicine of Lincoln University in Malaysia.

Other Dignitaries present were Dr. Mavis Boakye-Yiadom, Dr. MH Goerge Asare Adjabeng who is the Senior Medical Herbalist at New Tafo Government Hospital. et al.

According to Dr. Mavis Boakye-Yiadom, society rightfully expects a high standard of professionalism and conduct in line with the great regard that society has for healthcare workers. She, therefore, called upon them to exhibit absolute Professionalism in their practice.

In her speech, she also highlighted the training process of Medical Herbalists and petitioned for accommodation and allowances for the Medical Herbalists during their internship program at the Centre for Plant Medicine Research and the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital

Dr. Mrs. Anastasia Yirenkyi, therefore, gave her final words to the Wonderful Inductees, “I say Congratulations for making it to the finished line. From the good books in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your works, and glorify your Father which is heaven”.

“My advice to you as your enter into the job market is to be SMART.”
