Nyarkotey College of Holistic Medicine is a health school that only focuses on developing doctors to practice in the field of holistic medicine to help manage and treat illnesses with a wide range of complementary and alternative treatments to restore health and balance to the ill body. It is the first ever holistic/Naturopathic medicine school to be established in Ghana and was founded by Professor Raphael Obu Nyarkotey ND, DBL, MBA, ChMc, PhD, LLB(Pending)
As part of the school’s curriculum, students embark on health seminars at centers that practice various forms of alternative treatments both in the country and abroad to help them learn actively and passively in both theory and practical. One of such seminars was organized to take place on the 2nd and 3rd day of May 2021 at Assase Pa Health Resort located on the shores of Cape Coast, Ghana.
On Saturday 1st of May, students were conveyed from the school premises at Ashiaman in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana to Cape Coast in the Central Region for the seminar which would take place for the next two (2) days.
The seminar kick started the following day at exactly 9:15am with a talk from Mr. Dahveed Nelson, a natural health advocate who tours the world speaking on and drawing attention to living a life in connection to nature and the creator. Dahveed spoke on the subject “The Way of Life” and enumerated the importance of natural living concentrating on diet, exercise and intermittent fasting therapy together with meditation and emotional health practices.
Dr. Immanuel Biney, a colon health therapist took the students through a 4 hour interactive lecture on colon health with a break in between. He explained how important the colon is and how many diseases especially metabolic diseases can come about when people ignore to pay attention to their colon health. Colon hydrotherapy, a modern way of ancient enema which washes the colon and helps tone the colon unto its correct function of natural peristalsis was part of the theory discussion and lecture of that day. Dr. Biney took the students theoretically through how to take care of the colon and what colon hydrotherapy, the practical aspect which was to be taught tomorrow was all about.
On the 2nd day of the seminar, the students were taken through the practical aspect of how colon hydrotherapy is done. The students were taken into the spa of Assase Pa Health Resort into the room where colon hydrotherapy was performed and they were thoroughly shown all the machines and tubes and tools used for the therapy session. This was done in batches of 10 in a group to avoid overcrowding and promote spacing so that all students can see and hear what was being taught, observing all covid-19 protocols as it was a not so big room that couldn’t accommodate all.
A few of the students volunteered to undergo a colon hydrotherapy session to teach their colleagues and also enjoy the benefits for themselves. With all said and done, the seminar was brought to an end and students were conveyed back to the Greater Accra Region.
Excerpts of the health seminar would be uploaded soon on our YouTube channel, RafaTube and @rafamallgh on all social media platforms for anyone to access and have a bit of the experience.
