“Lamugee” is a local drink from the Northern part of Ghana made mainly from ginger and rice (or millet)
Ingredients
Ginger
Millet/ rice
Vanilla essence (optional)
Cloves (pepre)
Water
Honey/ Brown sugar
Tamarind (Samia)
Method
Soak the rice or millet overnight to soften it
Strain off the water and blend it.
Add water, cloves and ginger and also blend together.
Sift, add sweetner and stir.
Best served chilled. Milk can be added.
Health Benefits
Since it has a lot of ginger, it helps treats indigestion, it can prevent nausea and give anti-inflammatory effects
The additional cloves have many antibiotic properties due to the presence of compounds like eugenol. It can aid in gastrointestinal disturbances, mouth infections, and respiratory tract infections
