A recent interview at the Centre for Plant Medicine Research with Mr. Peter Atta Fosu who is at the Plant Development Department revealed why people are still chasing after herbal medicine and the possible future growth of the industry.
In the interview, Mr. Peter explained the Plant Development Department exists to carry out research into plant species, collecting, and processing of plant raw materials, protecting and maintaining some vital plant species as well as hosting a herbarium.
He emphasized the future of the industry is great as many people experience very little or no side effects from taking herbal medicine products. The market will increase due to the increasing trust in the products, he added. He suggested more cultivation of some medicinal plant species be initiated.
Mr. Peter Atta Fosu revealed some common medicinal plants found at their facility and their various uses. Amongst the list is Croton membranaceus which is mostly used in the management of prostate enlargement in men or Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia even within the clinic at the research institution.
He concluded by encouraging all stakeholders to prepare ahead of the upcoming rise in the market of the industry in all possible ways.
