Nauclea consists of the dried transversely sliced and chopped roots of Nauclea latifolia. Extracts of the plant have exhibited activity against Escherichia coli, Shigella flexneri, Salmonella typhi and Staphylococcus aureus (which are responsible for gastroenteritis in children)
