The bole can be free of branches for up to 15 metres, and 50 – 90cm in diameter. Cabbage palm is widely used in traditional medicine throughout its distribution area as a strong purgative and diuretic. The bark has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Decoction: Boil 30g (two tablespoonful) in 1000ml of water and allow to simmer to 600ml. Take 2-3 teacupsful daily
